Mentally Project

Let’s make UMF a safer place

Who are we?

We are the Mentally project, a grand project of the EMSA. Launched in the autumn of 2022, Mentally is an ambitious initiative aimed at improving mental health awareness and support for English-speaking students at UMF. At Mentally, we understand that mental health is an important aspect of our overall well-being, and its impact on our daily lives cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, mental health challenges continue to be stigmatized and often go unaddressed. Our goal is to change this by providing a platform for education and open dialogue on psychiatric diseases and mental issues.

What are our goals?

We have three primary goals. The first is to educate students on psychiatric diseases and mental issues. Through workshops, “tea-times” with open discussions, and “knowledge drop” events, we aim to equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to recognize and address mental health challenges in themselves and others.

Secondly, Mentally aims to facilitate communication between students and mental health specialists such as psychiatrists and psychologists. By providing a contact list for students to connect with these professionals, we hope to break down barriers to accessing mental health care and support.

Finally, Mentally is establishing a support hotline for students. The hotline provides a safe space for students to talk anonymously to other students about their challenges and receive the support they need to navigate them to professional help if needed.

Lets make UMF a safer place!

We know that mental health challenges are not limited to any particular group and can affect anyone. Whether you are experiencing academic pressure, are overwhelmed by living abroad, or stressed out by anything else, we are here to support you.
