Medical Education Department
Together towards medical excellence

Who are we?
Do you have an EMSA assigned mentor? Then you and the MED already know each other :)
We are the Medical Education Department (MED), proudly one of the core foundations of EMSA, established in 2017. Our department revolves around the self-improvement spirit that comes with being a medical student and a future doctor. We take great pride in carrying the responsibility of the name – Medical Education – which is the very reason we are all here. Our department has impacted almost EVERY student in the GM/DM English Section, from the workshops we hold, to the Mentors we recruit.
What are our goals?
Our primary goal is to make medical education more engaging to all by exploring innovative ways to unpack the dense medical curriculum. We strive to empower our volunteers and students to reach their full potential through our supportive, responsive community.
What have we done in the past?
Over the last six years, the MED has implemented numerous projects, most of which are still ongoing. We have several exciting initiatives currently in progress, and many more are in the planning stages. Here are three examples from our most popular projects:
Workshops:
Our vision of practical, hands-on training and continuous improvement is realized through the diverse range of workshops we do. These workshops cover a variety of topics, from ECGs, Anatomy, Ultrasound, Surgery Workshops and much more for GM to Implants, Composite restoration, Sutures Workshops for DM. We collaborate with dedicated and passionate professors, doctors, and tutors to deliver workshops that serve the advancement of valuable skills and knowledge to our student community.
Mentoring Program:
Starting university can be overwhelming, which is why we have an EMSA assigned mentor to help guide you. As soon as you arrive in Cluj, the MED reaches out to make sure you don’t get lost in the stress spiral. We assign you with an upper year student mentor to remind you to “take it easy” and send you those old-gold drive folders. You can help us do that to the next generation of newbies.
